The New Ghost – Norton Save & Restore

As many of you know, the famous backup and PC-cloning utility Ghost is a New Zealand-developed product, brought to life by Auckland developer Binary Research. Symantec bought the product in 1998 for US$27.5 million (NZ$42 million) and now sells it worldwide as Norton Ghost.

However, the new version will have a name change and be re-labelled as Norton Save & Restore. Although it’s a little sad, the new product is more than twice faster than the older Ghost versions. Highlights and main features of the Norton Save & Restore are:
  • Backs up files and folders
  • Creates full backups of your PC’s contents
  • Restores individual files or entire hard drive
  • Monitors and optimizes backup disk space
  • Encrypts backups to help keep them secure
  • Safeguards photos and important files
  • Schedules automatic backups
  • Restores from system failures
